Alpha Scuti (afgekort as α Sct) is ’n oranje ster in die suidelike sterrebeeld Skild (Scutum). Dit was oorspronklik deel van die Arend-sterrebeeld met die naam 1 Aquilae.^[8] Met ’n skynbare magnitude van 3,83 is dit dofweg met die blote oog sigbaar.^[3] Volgens parallaksmetings is dit sowat 199 ligjare van die Son af en beweeg dit weg teen ’n radiale snelheid van 36,5 km/s.^[9]

Sy sterreklassifikasie is K3 III,^[1] wat beteken dit is ’n K-tipe geëvolueerde reusester. Alpha Scuti is vermoedelik ’n veranderlike ster met ’n magnitudewisseling van 3,81 tot 3,87.^[10] Die ster se massa is sowat 1,33 keer dié van die Son, maar dit het uitgesit tot ’n radius van 20 keer die Son s'n.^[5] Sy ligsterkte is 186 keer die Son s'n^[4] teen ’n effektiewe temperatuur van 4 315 K.^[6]
