John Winslow Irving (gebore as John Wallace Blunt jr.; 2 Maart 1942)[1] is 'n Amerikaans-Kanadese roman- en draaiboekskrywer.

Irving het wêreldwyd beroemd geraak ná die sukses van The World According to Garp in 1978. Baie van sy boeke was topverkopers, insluitende The Hotel New Hampshire (1981), The Cider House Rules (1985), A Prayer for Owen Meany (1989) en A Widow for One Year (1998). Hy het in 2000 op die 72ste Oscar-toekenningsaand die Oscar gewen vir sy verwerkte draaiboek van The Cider House Rules.[2]

Vyf van sy romans is verfilm: Garp, Hotel, Meany, Cider en Widow. Verskeie van sy verhale speel af in Exeter, New Hampshire, waar hy gebore is.
