Miaplacidus (ook bekend as Beta Carinae of β Car) is met sy skynbare magnitude van 1,68 die tweede helderste ster in die sterrebeeld Kiel (Carina) en een van die helderste sterre in die naglug.[6] Dit lê naby die planetêre newel IC 2448. Volgens parallaksmetings is dit sowat 113,2 ligjare van die Son af.[2]
