Beta Hydri (β Hyi)^[9] ye la estrella más brillosa na constelación de Hydrus con magnitú aparente +2,80. Ye la estrella brillosa más cercana al polu sur celeste, yá que Polaris Australis (σ Octantis), la Estrella Polar del hemisferiu sur, apenes relluma con magnitú 5,42. Nel pasáu, hacia l'añu 150 e.C., Beta Hydri tuvo asitiada a menos de dos graos del polu. Alcuéntrase a 24,4 años lluz de distancia del Sistema Solar.^[10]
