On the night of November 13, 2022, a mass shooting took place at the University of Virginia (UVA) in Charlottesville, Virginia, in which three people were killed and two others were injured.[1][2] Four of the victims, including the three who died, were members of the UVA football team.[3] The perpetrator, 22-year-old Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., was later taken into custody and charged with three counts of second-degree murder, as well as three counts of using a handgun in the commission of a felony.[4] On November 20, 2024, Jones pleaded guilty in the shooting.[5]
