On September 5, 2024, a Muslim man from Austria, armed with a gun was seen in the area of the Israeli Consulate General and the Nazi Documentation Center in Munich, Germany. When the man had seen police officers, he opened fire at them. At the police operation that followed, the man was fatally shot by police officers.

The incident occurred on the anniversary of the Munich massacre during the 1972 Summer Olympics. LKA Bavaria and State police are investigating the background. The 18-year old Gunman was known to Austrian authorities as an Islamist.[2]
