No candidate received a majority of votes in the first round, with right-wing challenger Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova placing first by a wide margin with 41% of the vote, while Pendarovski finishd second with 20% of the vote. The two faced off in the second round run-off on 8 May,[1] which was held alongside parliamentary elections.[2][3] In the second round, Siljanovska defeated the incumbent Pendarovski with 69% of the vote and became the first woman to be elected president of North Macedonia.[4] She was inaugurated on 12 May.[5]
