Presidential elections are scheduled to be held in Portugal in January 2026. The election will elect the successor to President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who is barred from running for a third term.
Several personalities have expressed that they are considering a candidacy, such as Admiral Henrique Gouveia e Melo, commentator and former PSD leader Luís Marques Mendes, former PS leader António José Seguro, former minister António Vitorino and former deputy prime-minister and CDS–PP leader Paulo Portas.
