The Afghan Commando Forces (Persian: نیروهای کماندوی افغانستان, Pashto: افغان کمانډو لړۍ) were the former combined forces of commando, paratrooper and special forces of the Afghan Army. The force was composed of numerous brigades, regiments and battalions initially established by King Mohammad Zahir Shah in 1964 and was disbanded in 1992 , following the collapse of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan in the First Afghan Civil War.^[1][2]
