Andrea Goldsmith FREng[1] is an American electrical engineer and president of Stony Brook University and was previously the dean of Engineering and Applied Science at Princeton University.[2][3][4] She is also the Arthur LeGrand Doty Professor of Electrical Engineering at Princeton. In February 2025, Goldsmith was announced as the president elect at Stony Brook University, a position she will assume on August 1, 2025.[5]
Goldsmith was previously the Stephen Harris Professor in the School of Engineering at Stanford University,[6] as well as a faculty affiliate at the Stanford Neurosciences Institute.[7] Her interests are in the design, analysis and fundamental performance limits of wireless systems and networks, and in the application of communication theory and signal processing to neuroscience.[8] She also co-founded and served as chief technology officer of Plume Wi-Fi and Quantenna Communications. Since 2021, she has been a member of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST).[9]
