The Battle of Berestechko was a Russian offensive on Berestechko and the districts along the Styr river took place 7–8 July 1916 during Brusilov offensive. Russians won the battle, successfully crossing the river, take city and captured a large number of prisoners, although with significant losses for the Russian 11th Army.[1]
On the Russian side there were 200,000 against 85,000 soldiers of the armies of the central powers, who, with the exception of one division, were Austrians. The Russians lost 30,000, but took 27,000 prisoners.[2]
