Black Tape for a Blue Girl (often stylized as black tape for a blue girl) is an American neoclassical dark wave band formed in 1986 by keyboardist/songwriter Sam Rosenthal, the founder of Projekt Records. The band's fans include director David Lynch,[2] Sasha Grey, Poppy Z. Brite, and Caitlín R. Kiernan.[3]

Their music has elements of dark wave, ethereal, ambient, neoclassical, and dark cabaret music. Their 13th album, The Cleft Serpent, was released on October 1, 2021[4] on Projekt Records.
