Blake Ellender Lively[a] (born August 25, 1987)[2] is an American actress. A daughter of actor Ernie Lively, she made her professional debut in his directorial project Sandman (1998). She had her breakthrough role in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2005) and its 2008 sequel. Lively achieved recognition for her portrayal of Serena van der Woodsen in the CW teen drama television series Gossip Girl (2007–2012).
Among films, Lively had supporting roles in the romantic comedies New York, I Love You (2008), The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (2009), and Café Society (2016), as well as in the thrillers The Town (2010) and Savages (2012). She subsequently starred in the romantic fantasy The Age of Adaline (2015), the survival film The Shallows (2016), the black comedy thriller A Simple Favor (2018), and the romantic drama It Ends with Us (2024). She also directed Taylor Swift's 2021 music video "I Bet You Think About Me."
She played Carol Ferris in the superhero movie Green Lantern (2011), during which she met her future husband Ryan Reynolds. They married in 2012 and together they have four children.
She starred opposite Justin Baldoni in It Ends with Us, which garnered significant media attention due to legal disputes.[3][4] In December 2024, Lively and Baldoni each filed separate lawsuits related to the film. Lively accused Baldoni of widespread sexual harassment and retaliation, allegations reported by The New York Times. Baldoni, in turn, filed a libel lawsuit against the publication in response to their reporting.[5]
