Charyshsky District (Russian: Чары́шский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion), one of the fifty-nine in Altai Krai, Russia. It is located in the south of the krai. The area of the district is 6,881 square kilometers (2,657 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Charyshskoye.[1] Population: 12,337 (2010 Census);[3] 14,898 (2002 Census);[6] 15,774 (1989 Soviet census).[7] The population of Charyshskoye accounts for 26.1% of the district's total population.[3]
