The Dodge Spirit is a midsize automobile marketed by Dodge from the 1989 to the 1995 model years. Succeeding the Dodge Aries, Dodge Lancer, and Dodge 600 ,[1][2] the Spirit was marketed between the Shadow and the Dynasty within the Dodge product line, exclusively as a four-door notchback sedan over a single generation.
The Spirit used the Chrysler AA platform, an extended-wheelbase derivative of the Chrysler K platform.[3] The model line was marketed under different names by all three Chrysler divisions, primarily as the Plymouth Acclaim and the final generation of the Chrysler LeBaron sedan; in Europe, the model line was marketed as the Chrysler Saratoga.
Chrysler assembled the Spirit alongside the Acclaim/LeBaron at Newark Assembly (Newark, Delaware) and Toluca Car Assembly (Toluca, Mexico) facilities; the final vehicle was produced on December 9, 1994. For 1995, the Spirit was marketed concurrently alongside its Dodge Stratus successor.
Spirit and Acclaim are the new midsize sedans, replacing 600 and Caravelle.
