New presidential elections are expected to take place in Syria following the fall of the Ba'athist regime. A transitional government, led by Mohammed al-Bashir, is to remain in effect until 1 March 2025.[1] Earlier, opposition leader Hadi al-Bahra said the transition period should last about 18 months before elections occur,[2] which would be in June 2026.
