Henri Joseph Eugène Gouraud (French: [ɡuʁo]; 17 November 1867 – 16 September 1946) was a French Army officer best known for his command of the 4th Army during the final stages of World War I. Following the war's end, he served as the first High Commissioner of the Levant from 1919 to 1922 and then as the military governor of Paris from 1923 to 1937.
