"I Want a New Drug" is a song by American rock band Huey Lewis and the News from their third album Sports. It was released as the album's second single in January 1984 as the follow up to their top-ten hit "Heart and Soul". The single reached number six on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Hot Dance Club Play chart. It is a love song wherein the word "drug" has an intentionally open-ended meaning for the listener's interpretation and is one of the band's signature songs.
