The Ika people are found primarily in Delta State Nigeria & Edo State, they are a subgroup of the larger Igbo ethnic group The Ika people have two(2) Local Governments (Ika South and Ika North East Local Government Areas) in Delta State, and are also indigenous to Igbanke, Ekpon and other communities of Orhionmwon, Uhunmwonde and Igueben Local Government Areas in Edo State. They speak Ika dialects such as; Agbor, Awu(spoken in Abavo), Owa, Ede, Ute, Idumesah, Owerre, Ekpon, Mbiri, Igbanke. The standard form of Ika dialect is said to be the Agbor and Ekpon dialects of the Ika language.
