Masami Odate (大館昌美, Ōdate Masami, born May 8, 1990) is a Japanese professional wrestler. She is signed to WWE, where she performs on the Raw brand under the ring name Iyo Sky (イヨ・スカイ, Iyo Sukai) (stylized in all caps). She is a member of Damage CTRL and a former two-time WWE Women's Tag Team Champion with fellow stablemate Dakota Kai, as well as a former Women's Money in the Bank contract holder and former WWE Women's Champion.
She is best known for competing as Io Shirai (紫雷 イオ, Shirai Io) (/ˈiːoʊ/) in WWE's developmental brand NXT, where she was a former NXT Women's Champion and NXT Women's Tag Team Champion with Zoey Stark, and previously in World Wonder Ring Stardom (Stardom), where she was a two-time World of Stardom Champion. In Stardom, she is also a former two-time Wonder of Stardom Champion, six-time Artist of Stardom Champion, the inaugural SWA World Champion, one-time Goddesses of Stardom Champion, and one-time High Speed Champion. She was recognized as the "ace" of Stardom,[18] and was the recipient of the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Tokyo Sports Joshi Puroresu Grand Prizes. Her run in Stardom coincides with the rise of her own stable, Queen's Quest, which carried on after Shirai's departure in 2018 until 2024.
Making her debut in March 2007, she spent several years working as a tag team wrestler, teaming with her older sister Mio, with whom she wrestled for various promotions across Japan and Mexico. In June 2010, she and her sister came together with Kana to form the Triple Tails stable, which lasted for 15 months, before Io broke out of the group and embarked on her singles career in Stardom. Io quickly became one of the promotion's top stars. She won the promotion's top title, the World of Stardom Championship, in April 2013, later holding it twice, with each reign lasting for over a year. She worked for Stardom from 2011 until 2018, when she signed with WWE.
Adopting her Stardom gimmick of the "Genius of The Sky", Shirai made her WWE debut at the 2018 Mae Young Classic tournament, where she lost in the finals to Toni Storm. She was later assigned to the NXT brand, where she had several high profile programs and matches in the respective women's division. She officially turned heel for the first time in her career in 2019, and won her first championship in WWE, the NXT Women's Championship, in June the following year. She made her debut on the main roster at the 2022 SummerSlam pay-per-view under the new name of Iyo Sky, and subsequently became a member of Bayley's Damage CTRL stable. After winning the Money in the Bank contract, she won the WWE Women's Championship at the next years SummerSlam, before losing it to Bayley at WrestleMania XL.
She has been highly praised throughout her career, and has been called one of the best women's wrestlers in the world.[19][20][21][22] Her matches against the likes of her fellow Stardom contemporaries Kairi Hojo (Sane) and Mayu Iwatani, Meiko Satomura, and Charlotte Flair, have been greatly praised.
