Joanne Thompson PC MP (born July 2, 1960[citation needed]) is a Canadian politician who has served as Minister of Seniors since December 2024. A member of the Liberal Party, Thompson represents the riding of St. John's East in the House of Commons of Canada, taking office as a Member of Parliament following the 2021 Canadian federal election.[1] Prior to politics, Thompson was a registered nurse and worked in her family's jewelry business. Thompson is also the former executive director of the Gathering Place in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.[2]
