Masters of the Universe is an American animated superhero fantasy television series produced by Kevin Smith and Powerhouse Animation Studios. A sequel[1] to the 1983–1985 series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe by Filmation, while ignoring the events of The New Adventures of He-Man (1990), the plot of Revelation explores unresolved storylines from the original 1980s series.[2][3] It stars the voices of Chris Wood, Mark Hamill, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Liam Cunningham, Lena Headey, Melissa Benoist, William Shatner, Meg Foster and Keith David, and follows after a terrible battle between He-Man and Skeletor that left Eternia divided, and the Guardians of Grayskull split up. Now, many decades later, Teela needs to reunite this group of heroes and decipher the mysterious disappearance of the Sword of Power.
Netflix released the first series, Masters of the Universe: Revelation, in two parts, with five episodes debuting July 23, 2021,[4] then five additional episodes on November 23, 2021.[5] In June 2022, Netflix announced a second series, Masters of the Universe: Revolution,[6] which premiered its first part (the third overall) on January 25, 2024.[7]
The series received generally positive reviews.
showrunner Kevin Smith touted it as direct sequel
