Metlika (pronounced [mɛˈtliːka] ⓘ; German: Möttling[2]) is a town in southeastern Slovenia. It is the seat of the Municipality of Metlika. It lies on the left bank of the Kolpa River on the border with Croatia. It is in the heart of the area of White Carniola, the southeastern part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola.[3] It is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.
