Midori Ito (伊藤みどり, Itō Midori, born 13 August 1969) is a retired Japanese figure skater. She is the 1989 World champion^[1] and the 1992 Olympic silver medalist.^[2] She is the first woman to land a triple Axel in competition.^[3][4] At the 1988 Calgary Olympics, she became the first woman to land seven triple jumps in an Olympic free skating competition.^[5][6] She is widely recognised as one of the best figure skaters of all time.
