Nigel Dalton is an Australian politician. He currently serves as the Liberal National member for Mackay in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland, winning the seat on a 17.2% swing at the 2024 Queensland state election.[1] He is the first member for Mackay elected from the LNP or either of its predecessor parties, and its first conservative member in over 100 years.[2]
Dalton was previously a police officer for 22 years, retiring in early 2024 to run for state parliament.[3]
Dalton was honoured to be named the 2023 Citizen of the Year for Mackay.[3]
In 2022, Neighbourhood Watch Australasia recognised Nigel's service by presenting him with their Police Commissioner’s Award. In 2018, Nigel received a Queensland Police Service bronze award for his focus on community policing.[3]
