Nilesh M. Desai (born April 1, 1964) is an Indian engineer and space scientist. He has contributed to the development of microwave radar satellites, including RISAT-1 and Oceansat-2. the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (NAVIC), Quantum Key Distribution, and the third Indian lunar exploration mission-Chandrayaan-3. In 2021, Desai was appointed as director of the Space Applications Centre (SAC)[1] in Ahmedabad, a key institution under the ISRO responsible for developing satellite-based applications for communicating, navigating and remote sensing [2][3]
