He was Member of parliament (MP) in Lok Sabha representing West Delhi.[1] He served two terms as an MP for a period of 10 years from 2014 to 2024. In 2014, he was first elected to the 16th Lok Sabha and re-elected in 2019 for the 17th Lok Sabha with the highest-ever margin of victory in the history of Delhi, a margin of 578,486 votes.
