Poshekhonsky District (Russian: Пошехо́нский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[6] district (raion), one of the seventeen in Yaroslavl Oblast, Russia. It is located in the north of the oblast. The area of the district is 4,400 square kilometers (1,700 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the town of Poshekhonye.[1] Population: 14,292 (2010 Census);[3] 18,209 (2002 Census);[8] 22,734 (1989 Soviet census).[9] The population of Poshekhonye accounts for 42.6% of the district's total population.[3]
