Ranipet (lit. Queen's colony) is an industrial town and the headquarters of Ranipet district at Vellore region in Tamil Nadu. It is located about 115 kilometres (71 mi) from the Chennai city. It is a major industrial town located on NH 4 Chennai-Bangalore highway, on the northern bank of the Palar River.
