Ranipet (lit. Queen's colony) is an industrial town and the headquarters of Ranipet district at Vellore region in Tamil Nadu. It is located about 115 kilometres (71 mi) from the Chennai city. It is a major industrial town located on NH 4 Chennai-Bangalore highway, on the northern bank of the Palar River.

Ranipet is renowned for its thriving industrial base, which includes numerous small, medium, and large-scale industries, particularly in sectors such as leather tanning, chemical manufacturing, and engineering.
