Theodotus of Chios

Theodotus of Chios[1] (Greek: Θεόδοτος) (died in 43 or 42 BC) was the rhetoric tutor of the young Egyptian king Ptolemy XIII.

  1. ^ According to the ancient Greek biographer Plutarch (Pompey 77.3; Brutus 33.3) Theodotus was born on the Greek isle of Chios, but according to the ancient historian Appian (Civil Wars 2.84.354) he was born on the isle of Samos.
