Tsimlyansky District (Russian: Цимля́нский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[4] district (raion), one of the forty-three in Rostov Oblast, Russia. It is located in the east of the oblast. The area of the district is 2,529 square kilometers (976 sq mi).[2] Its administrative center is the town of Tsimlyansk.[1] Population: 34,222 (2010 Census);[3] 35,998 (2002 Census);[6] 33,851 (1989 Soviet census).[7] The population of Tsimlyansk accounts for 43.9% of the district's total population.[3]
