As a relief from the last edition, the month closes with less entries on the Trump family and a bigger variety of subjects, happy or sad.

Rank Article Class Views Image Notes/about
1 DeepSeek 2,542,555 Actually, I’m not sure why I bother. In the end, it too will probably be Made in China.

An arms race to build the best large language model (LLM). OpenAI with #11, Google with Gemini, Microsoft with Copilot, character.ai, and so on. Established tech giants putting everything into AI. Billions of dollars and thousands of people working on LLMs. The U.S. president investing $500 billion in AI.

An obscure Chinese company releasing DeepSeek. 20 times cheaper, 10 times less processing power, still just as good. People thinking, "Maybe we don't need to pump so much money into the industry?" A trillion-dollar stock market crash.

2 Karoline Leavitt 1,719,534 This gentlewoman is President #6's fifth White House Press Secretary, when including first-term predecessors Sean Spicer, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Stephanie Grisham, and Kayleigh McEnany. Raised Catholic and hailing from the Live Free or Die state New Hampshire, she recently claimed that $50 million in taxpayer funds were to go to fund "condoms in Gaza".
3 2025 Potomac River mid-air collision 1,585,882 On January 29, a Bombardier CRJ700 airliner collided mid-air with a Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter of the United States Army over the Potomac River a half-mile (0.8 km) from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Arlington, Virginia. All 67 people on board the two aircraft were killed in what was the deadliest air disaster on United States soil since 2009.
4 List of Super Bowl champions 1,246,947 As of this writing, a total of 20 franchises have won the NFL Super Bowl. The winner of each Super Bowl receives the famed Vince Lombardi Trophy. #14 next Sunday will have a repeat winner, either the Kansas City Chiefs or the Philadelphia Eagles.
5 Robert F. Kennedy Jr. 1,188,293 One more in the influential Kennedy family, Mr. Robert F. K. Jr. is President #6's nominee for Secretary of the United States Department of Health and Human Services, highest-spending of all Government Departments by more than double the second-placed D. of Defense (see here; 2023 numbers). At a spunky 71 years young, environmental law and health topics have been among his interests; while appraising efforts like the Green New Deal and championing the adoption of solar-cell magic, he also denounces vaccines, claiming they cause autism.
6 Donald Trump 1,079,557 Trump’s back (both in this report and to the presidency), and so are his tariffs. Several of his executive orders are being challenged in court such as the ones attempting to redefine birthright citizenship guaranteed under the 14th amendment to the U.S. Constitution and freeze federal spending.
7 Marianne Faithfull 1,052,186 An English singer and actress who died at the age of 78. Faithfull achieved popularity in the 1960s, with some help from The Rolling Stones (she dated Mick Jagger, co-wrote "Sister Morphine" with him, and he let Faithfull record "As Tears Go By" first, giving her a top 10 single), only for the following decade to have her face hardships, including laryngitis and drug abuse that led to what James Hetfield described as a "weathered, smellin'-the-cigarettes-on-the-CD voice" hauntingly employed in one of his songs.
8 Deaths in 2025 999,735 Speaking of said song:
And can't the band play on?
Just listen, they play my song
Ash to ash
Dust to dust
Fade to black...
9 Royal Rumble (2025) 952,745 WWE Royal Rumble 2025 was held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Fans were shocked and surprised at who returned, like WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus, Nikki Bella, Alexa Bliss and many more. But, they didn't expect AJ Lee to not return, nor did they forget IShowSpeed appearing like... what the...?, as well as RVD (Rob... Van... Dam!) and Ron Simmons (Damn!). In the 30-Man Royal Rumble, while Jey Uso and John Cena are fighting, fans did not expect or was not in my bingo card! that Uso would eliminate Cena to become the main event on WrestleMania 41. Fans were also disappointed that, in the 30-Woman Royal Rumble, Charlotte Flair won, fans called it "predictable" and Flair will also go on WrestleMania 41. I wonder if Drew Carey can go again on Royal Rumble just like he did on 2001 Royal Rumble. Hmm... much worse.
10 Sky Force (film) 920,762 This Bollywood action drama film centred around India's first airstrike, the Sargodha airbase attack of Pakistan in the Indo-Pakistani air war of 1965 was released last week coinciding with the Indian Republic Day weekend. The film stars Akshay Kumar (pictured) in the lead role and is directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and co-produced by Ambani's Jio Studios. It received positive reviews and has almost recovered its budget as of this writing.
11 ChatGPT 823,207 Like #1, but American and more expensive.
12 Kash Patel 821,427 #6's pick for FBI director had his confirmation hearings this week. Many are questioning exactly how loyal he is to #6 and highlighting his previous embrace of conspiracy theories such as QAnon.
13 Elon Musk 805,826 Under #6's administration, Musk is going wild with his Department of Government Efficiency, to the point where some of his closest tech bros are huddled up in various government offices, including the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), trying to figure out what cuts to make. This week, the OPM offered a buyout scheme to all federal government workers and locked senior OPM employees out of their internal computer systems.
14 Super Bowl LIX 770,043 The Kansas City Chiefs are back for their third Super Bowl in a row, the first team to do so. If they win against the Philadelphia Eagles on February 9, they will become the first team to win the Super Bowl three times in a row. Viewership for the 59th Super Bowl is guaranteed to be high, as the game is all but certain to feature Taylor Swift.
15 Jannik Sinner 740,218 This Italian professional tennis player and currently the world No. 1 in men's singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), won his second consecutive 2025 Australian Open Grand Slam. It was his third Grand Slam after 2024 Australian Open and 2024 US Open.
16 Severance (TV series) 691,705 There were nearly a half-century of 2022 television debuts that were well-received by both critics and audiences from HBO and Prime Video to Netflix to Disney+'s Marvel and Max' DC and many more... Some of them released their second seasons last year and some are set to release their second seasons this year. Starting of this year's second seasons is this science fiction psychological thriller Apple TV+ series starring Adam Scott (pictured), which was ranked at the second position on 2022 television debuts only behind an ABC series (although this one debuted one month early to be on the list).

So, the second season of this series premiered 3 weeks ago and released its second & third episodes in the last two weeks. It is set to release a new episode on each Friday for the next 7 weeks culminating with the season finale on March 21.

17 Pete Hegseth 687,389 Confirmed as the 29th U.S. secretary of defense on January 24, despite a sexual-assault allegation, by a 51-50 vote in the Senate (#6’s running mate casted the tie-breaking vote).
18 Emilia Pérez 683,713 One week late due to the political onslaught caused by the new government, we can discuss how the 97th Academy Awards are led by 13 nominations for this French movie about Mexico, that is also mostly spoken in English. It's a quite unusual affair, a musical about a Mexican drug lord faking death along with going through a sex change, and is inspiring polarizing responses, regarding its quality, subjects, and even the declarations and old tweets of star Karla Sofía Gascón (pictured; who is also the first trans woman nominated for Best Actress).
19 Murder of Laken Riley 649,129 This 22-year-old Augusta University nursing student was murdered on the University of Georgia campus (pictured) last February and, in the aftermath, the Laken Riley Act was passed by the House of Representatives last March, which would "mandate federal detention of illegal immigrants who are arrested for burglary or theft and would allow states to file suit against the federal government for failing to enforce immigration laws". The bill was signed into law by the President #6 last week.
20 Patrick Mahomes 641,825 This football quarterback of Kansas City Chiefs has led the Chiefs to seven consecutive AFC Championship Game appearances and five Super Bowl appearances. He was the MVP for the last two Super Bowls in which Chiefs emerged as champions. This week he will once again play for the Chiefs at the #14.
21 Paradise (2025 TV series) 640,379 We discussed about successful 2022 television debuts above at #16, and now here's a 2025 television debut that got more Wikipedia views than a MCU animated series that also debuted last week. This political thriller Hulu series with Sterling K. Brown (pictured) premiered last Sunday and released its second & third episodes last Tuesday. It is set to release a new episode on each Tuesday for the next 5 weeks.
22 Tulsi Gabbard 619,952 The newest Director of National Intelligence comes from one of her Republic's remotest territories: American Samoa. Ms. Gabbard's political affiliation was Democratic until 2022; she has since switched sides, to be with the Grand Old Party. Pictured is her wearing a lei, as appropriate for her Congressional representation of Hawai'i (2013–2021).
23 Nosferatu (2024 film) 611,065 For all the new movies in theaters or ones getting renewed attention due to the Academy Awards, one that managed to remain on the list was this acclaimed vampire movie remake, that more than tripled its budget with $167 million worldwide, and whose acclaim included 4 Oscar nominations.
24 Sean Duffy 556,140 With no less than nine children (another official in the same administration has twelve), Mr. Sean Duffy of Hayward, Wisconsin has been nominated by President Trump (#6) to oversee the United States' highways, airways, railways, seaways, and even pipeways. Way to go.
25 The Night Agent 551,139 We discussed about 2022 television debuts returning for second seasons above at #16, and here's a 2023 television debut returning for the second season. This action thriller Netflix series created by Shawn Ryan (pictured), starring Gabriel Basso in the titular role—an FBI agent discovering a conspiracy deep within the government was initially released March 2023 and it went on to become the third-most-viewed debuting series on Netflix in its first four days, and within a week it was renewed for a second season, which was released last month. The series has already been renewed for a third season.
