Platypterygius es un género de ictiosaurios de la familia Ophthalmosauridae, que vivieron en el Cretácico Inferior en lo que hoy es Australia, Rusia, Estados Unidos, Alemania y posiblemente Nueva Zelanda. Es el género más relacionado con Caypullisaurus y Brachypterygius^[1]​
