Goïta shi ne shugaban National Committee for the Salvation of the People [fr], rundunar soji da ta ƙwace mulki daga hannun tsohon shugaban ƙasar Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta a juyin mulkin Mali na 2020.^[2] Daga baya Goïta ya karɓi mulki daga Bah Ndaw bayan juyin mulkin 2021 na Mali kuma tun daga nan aka ayyana shi a matsayin shugaban riƙon ƙwarya a Mali.^[3]
