Styx er eit amerikansk rockeband frå Chicago, som vart sipa i 1972. Dei vart kjende for albuma dei gav ut seint i 1970- og tidleg i 1980-åra. Dei er mest kjende for ei blanding av hardrock-gitar, balansert av akustisk gitar, synthesizer blanda med akustisk piano, livlege spor og powerballadar og eit element av internasjonal musikalmusikk.^[6] Bandet var i starten eit progressivt rockeband i 1970-åra, før dei byrja å ta inn element av poprock og softrock i 1980-åra.

Styx er mest kjend for hitsongane som gjekk inn på topp 10 av Billboard Hot 100-lista i USA: «Lady», «Come Sail Away», «Babe», «The Best of Times», «Too Much Time on My Hands», «Mr. Roboto», «Don't Let It End» og «Show Me the Way». Andre kjende songar er «Renegade», «The Grand Illusion», «Blue Collar Man», «Crystal Ball», «Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man)», «Rockin' the Paradise», «Boat on the River» og «Suite Madame Blue». Styx har hatt fire album på rad som har selt til fleire gonger platinaplate i USA,^[7] i tillegg til 16 topp 40-singlar i USA, der åtte av dei nådde topp 10. Av desse åtte var sju av skrivne av og sungen av det opphavlege medlemmet og songaren Dennis DeYoung, inkludert førsteplassen «Babe».^[8] DeYoung har ikkje vore medlem av bandet sidan 1999, då han vart sparka ut av gitaristane James «J.Y.» Young og Tommy Shaw i ein vond krangel.
