Porto (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈpoɾtu]), cried Oporto (Inglis) an aa, is the seicont lairgest ceety in Portugal. Its admeenistrative limits (an aurie o 41.66 km²/16 sq.mi) includes a population of 220,000 inhabitants distributit athin 15 ceevil parishes. The urbanized aurie o Porto, which extends ayont the admeenistrative limits o the ceety, haes a population o 1.1 million[3][4] in an area of 389 km2 (150 sq mi),[3] making it the second-lairgest urban area in Portugal. The Porto metropolitan aurie includes approximately 1.3 million fowk,[5][6][7] an is recognized as a Gamma-level global ceety bi the Globalization and World Cities (GaWC) Study Group.
