Putla Villa de Guerrero or simply Putla, is a toun an municipality in the State o Oaxaca, Mexico. It is pairt o Putla Destrict in the wast o the Sierra Sur Region.
Its oreeginal name wis Puctitlán, which means “place wi a lot o smoke”. The Villa de Guerrero pairt is in honour o Vicente Guerrero, a hero o the Mexican War o Unthirldom. Putla became the seat o its municipality in 1907 an is locatit 374 km frae the ceety o Oaxaca.[1]
It connects the Mixtec region wi the coast o Oaxaca an is a commercial centre for the Mixtecs, Amuzgos, an Chatinos that live in the aurie.[2]
