A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood is a 2019 American biographical drama movie, directed by Marielle Heller and written by Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster. The movie stars Tom Hanks as Fred Rogers with Matthew Rhys as Tom Junod. Other stars include Susan Kelechi Watson and Chris Cooper.
The movie is about depressed journalist Tom Junod accepts an assignment to write an Esquire profile on Fred Rogers and Junod's views on life changed after his encounter with Mister Rogers.[4]
Filming began in September 2018 in Pittsburgh.[5] It was released on November 22, 2019 by TriStar Pictures.[6] For his role as Mr. Rogers, Hanks was nominated for an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and BAFTA Award.
