Balochistan or Baluchistan is an arid region on the Iranian plateau. The plateau is in Southwest Asia and South-central Asia, between Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan. The area is named after the Baloch people who inhabit the region. The Baloch are of Aryan and other races who moved into the area from the west around A.D. 1000. The native languages are Balochi, Pashto, Brahui, Sindhi, Hazaragi and Persian are spoken in the region. The southern part of Balochistan is known as Makran. It is recognized by the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization.
