Bergerac (/ˈbɜːrʒəræk/ BUR-zhə-rak) is a British crime drama television series that aired from 18 October 1981 to 26 December 1991.[1] Set in Jersey, the show was produced by the BBC in collaboration with the Australian Seven Network and was first broadcast on BBC1.
The series stars John Nettles as Jim Bergerac, a detective sergeant working in "Le Bureau des Étrangers" (The Foreigners' Office), a fictional department of the States of Jersey Police that deals with non-residents. Later in the series, the character leaves the police force and becomes a private investigator.[2][3][4]
