Caroline Bouvier Kennedy[2][3] (born November 27, 1957) is an American diplomat author, writer and lawyer. She was the 27th United States ambassador to Australia from 2022 to 2024 under President Joe Biden. She was the 29th United States ambassador to Japan from 2013 to 2017 under Barack Obama.[4] She is a member of the Kennedy family and the only living and surviving child President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy.
