The Deobandi movement (Urdu: جَمَاَعَةْ اَلْ دِیُوُبٰنْدْ) is a revivalist movement in Sunni Islam that follows the Hanafi school of law and the Ash'ari or Maturidi school of thought.[1][2] It started in the late 19th century, in Deoband, India. Their beliefs include that only Allah can be asked for help and are against innovations in religion (bid'ah).[3][4] Deobandis are part of and are the founders of the Tablighi Jammat which is how they spread Islam.
