Hastings and Rye is a constituency of the UK Parliament ^{[n 1]} in East Sussex. It was created in 1983. Since then it has been held by the Conservative Party, apart from 1997 to 2010 when it held by Michael Foster for the Labour Party. Between 2010 and 2019 it was represented by Amber Rudd.^{[2] [n 2]} Rudd was in the Theresa May's Cabinet. Between 2016 and 2018 she was Home Secretary, and between 2018 and 2019 she was Secretary of State for Work and Pensions. Since 2019 it has been represented by Sally-Ann Hart.
