The Humboldt-University of Berlin (German: Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin) is Berlin's first public university.[1] It was founded by Wilhelm von Humboldt.[1] He was the German Minister of Education at the time.[2] Von Humboldt organized Germany's system of education which is still used today.[2] The first building was donated by Frederick William III of Prussia.[1] The University opened its doors in 1810 as the University of Berlin.[3]
