The iPhone 16e is a smartphone developed by Apple[2][3][4] announced on February 19, 2025[5][6][7][8][9], people can buy early on February 21, 2025.[10] launched in order to replace the iPhone SE.[11] as the new iPhone currently available on the market. It has a USB-C charger port instead of Lightning, main reason why it was launched as a replacement for the iPhone SE, since the new European Union rules requires all devices sold on its market to use the USB-C connector, this greatly reduces technology companies able to create new, faster and stronger interface in the future.
Other of its characteristics are a 6.1 inch OLED screen featuring the same notch for Face ID seen on iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14, NFC, Apple A18 Bionic chipset and C1 modem[12], also developed by Apple. The iPhone 16e comes with iOS 18.3 installed by default, and new future iOS updates can be installed just like on the rest of the iPhone models.[13]
The iPhone 16e became the cheapest iPhone 16 family to works with Apple Intelligence.[14] It is the first budget iPhone to have USB-C and Face ID.
