Marcus J. Borg (March 11, 1942 – January 21, 2015) was an American New Testament scholar, theologian and author.[3] He was a fellow of the Jesus Seminar and a former Hundere Distinguished Professor of Religion and Culture at Oregon State University. He was a major figure in scholarship related to the historical Jesus.[4][5] He was born in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.
Borg died at the age of 72 on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from pulmonary fibrosis in Powell Butte, Oregon.[6]
