Oscar Emmanuel Peterson (August 15, 1925 – December 23, 2007) was a Canadian jazz pianist. Peterson won eight Grammy Awards and was put into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1978.[1] His career lasted for more than 65 years.
He was born in Montreal, where his father taught him to play the piano.[2] While at high school he had lessons with a Hungarian classical pianist, Paul de Marky.
