Rachel Henderson Hunt (born May 19, 1965) is an American politician serving as the 36th lieutenant governor of North Carolina under Governor Josh Stein since 2025. Before becoming lieutenant governor, she was a member of the North Carolina State Senate from 2023 to 2025.[1] Hunt served in the North Carolina House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023.
She became the first Democrat elected to the lieutenant governor’s office since Walter Dalton in 2012. She the second female lieutenant governor after Bev Perdue. Hunt is also the first Nepalese-American lieutenant governor in the state's history.
