Model of Herod's Temple The Second Temple (Hebrew : בית המקדש, Holy House ) was the reconstructed Temple in Jerusalem which stood between 516 BC and 70 AD . It is also known as the Herod's Temple . Back then, it was the center of Jewish worship . The Romans burned down Jerusalem and its Second Temple on August 4, 70 AD after crushing a Jewish revolt against their colonial rule.[ 1] [ 2]
