Summer L. Lee (born November 26, 1987)[1] is an American community organizer and Democratic politician who is a member of the United States House of Representatives from Pennsylvania's 18th congressional district since 2023. She was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 34th district from 2019 to 2022.[2] Lee is the first black woman to represent Southwestern Pennsylvania in the state legislature.[2]
In October 2021, Lee announced her candidacy for the United States House of Representatives for the 18th congressional district.[3] In February 2022, Lee announced that she would run in the newly-redrawn 12th congressional district.[4] She won the Democratic nomination in May 2022. She won the general election in November 2022.
Lee born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and was raised in North Braddock, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 2009 and from the Howard University School of Law in 2015.[5][6] She campaigned for Bernie Sanders in the 2016 Democratic primaries after graduating.
